Data science and high-performance computing applied to the maritime and environmental sectors

ARITMÆTICA is a startup from the Institut des sciences de la mer (ISMER), in partnership with Axelys. As a duo of physical oceanographers, we study, analyze, and explain complex maritime and environmental phenomena through observation, data analysis, and high-performance computing.

Our expertise and services

  • R&D in applied physical oceanography
  • Advanced analysis of marine data
  • High-performance ocean current modeling
  • In situ oceanographic measurements
  • Scientific expertise for investigations, litigation and insurance in marine environments
  • Development of navigation simulator scenarios
  • Operational scientific applications
  • Knowledge transfer and science communication

About us

Portrait of Sandy Gregorio

Sandy Gregorio, PhD

After studying mathematics, I completed a PhD in 2011 in geophysical fluid dynamics. Since then, I have focused on numerical modelling and high-performance computing to better understand ocean dynamics. I have also developed expertise in advanced analysis and interpretation of marine and environmental data, which helps bridge theory and real-world observations.

Portrait of Daniel Bourgault

Daniel Bourgault, PhD

Passionate about sailing since childhood and physics since my teens, I found my vocation in physical oceanography. After completing a PhD in atmospheric and oceanic sciences in 2001, I have continued my career as a professor-researcher. I am particularly interested in observing physical processes in coastal seas, as well as in signal processing and image analysis.
